About This Project

The Mexicantown Latino Cultural Center was conceived by the Mexicantown Community Development Center (MCDC) in Southwest Detroit.

The idea is to build out an unfinished meeting space into a full-fledged community facility, with an art gallery, cafe and community learning kitchen, all managed by the nonprofit MCDC.

Phase 1 of the project received a Kresge KIP:D grant and is currently (summer 2020) under construction.
