About This Project

Glass Block Express (GBX) is a Detroit-based small business, supplying and installing glass block windows in homes.

GBX is dedicated to providing employment to Detroiters and investing in neighborhoods, which prompted them to purchase a vacant building from the Land Bank and apply for a Motor City Match grant to fix up the building.

Unfolding Architecture has been honored to have the opportunity to help get this unique old building back on its feet and discover its old idiosyncracies, like the sawtooth facade which is being reimagined in the new design.
